Established in 1839 by Alexander Matheson, the distillery’s location by the Cromarty Firth in Scotland provided the ideal setting for whisky production. The Mackenzie family’s takeover in 1867 marked a turning point, introducing a pioneering multi-cask maturation technique that remains central to The Dalmore’s identity.
