India launches a high-impact shuttle service from 26 March 2025 to ease traffic and enhance the travel experience for pilgrims visiting Kainchi Dham, Uttarakhand.

To accommodate the growing number of devotees at Kainchi Dham in Bhowali, Nainital district, the Uttarakhand government is rolling out a special shuttle service beginning 26 March 2025. This initiative aims to ease traffic congestion and streamline access to the revered temple.

Why Kainchi Dham Is Getting a Dedicated Shuttle System

Kainchi Dham, established by the spiritual leader Neem Karoli Baba, has transformed into a prominent pilgrimage destination with international recognition. Festival days and weekends draw thousands of visitors, often causing long traffic snarls along the narrow roads leading to the temple.

To tackle this rising pressure on local infrastructure, authorities have implemented a shuttle system designed to regulate traffic while ensuring a smoother experience for pilgrims. As reported by Money Control, the goal is to make visiting the temple more manageable for all.

How the New Parking and Shuttle Setup Works

In order to control the influx of vehicles near the temple premises, designated parking areas have been established. From these zones, visitors can board the shuttle service for the final leg of their journey.

  • Travelers from Haldwani via Bhimtal can park at the Industrial Area Bhimtal parking facility.
  • Travelers from Haldwani via Jyolikot-Bhowali should use the parking zone near Bhowali Sanatorium, approximately 1.5 kilometers from the Kainchi Bypass.

Timings for the Shuttle Service

The shuttle will operate on a schedule tailored to visitor demand:

  • Weekdays: 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM
  • Weekends and Peak Days: 7:00 AM to 8:00 PM, reflecting the heavier footfall

Additional Traffic Measures for a Smooth Experience

To support the new system, supplementary traffic rules are being introduced. Heavy vehicles will be barred from entering the Kainchi Dham zone between 8:00 AM and 9:00 PM on weekends and festival days. Traffic police will be on duty to ensure vehicles move in an orderly and safe manner.

This initiative is expected to significantly reduce congestion and make the spiritual journey to Kainchi Dham more accessible and peaceful for all visitors.
