American Cruise Lines Unveils American Anthem as the Newest Addition to Its Expanding Riverboat Fleet
American Cruise Lines (ACL) has officially announced details of its latest modern riverboat, the American Anthem, set to debut in April 2027. Designed to offer a fresh and contemporary cruising experience, the vessel will boast multiple dining venues, a multi-story glass atrium, and a state-of-the-art fitness center.
Currently under construction at Chesapeake Shipbuilding in Maryland, the 6,000-ton riverboat will navigate the Columbia and Snake Rivers, offering eight-night itineraries between Portland, Oregon, and Clarkston, Washington.
A Scenic and Historic Journey Through the Pacific Northwest
As part of its inaugural season, the American Anthem will take passengers on a captivating voyage through the history and landscapes of the region, stopping at key destinations including:
Beyond these stops, guests can embark on excursions to iconic landmarks, such as:
- Fort Clatsop
- Mount St. Helens

- Hells Canyon
- Multnomah Falls
According to ACL, the itinerary offers an immersive experience, allowing travelers to witness the ever-changing landscapes of the Pacific Northwest, from towering waterfalls and forested mountains to rugged rocky shores.
Expansion of ACL’s Modern Riverboat Series
Before welcoming the American Anthem, ACL will introduce five new ships between 2025 and 2026, including four coastal vessels—the American Patriot, American Pioneer, American Ranger, and American Maverick—and an additional riverboat, the American Encore.
The American Anthem will be the seventh ship in ACL’s modern riverboat series, which began in 2018 with the American Song. The lineup also includes:
