Taiwan’s Vibrant Culture And Stunning Landscapes Take Center Stage At San Francisco Travel Show – Travel And Tour World

Taiwan Tourism

The Taiwan Tourism Administration (TTA), in collaboration with China Airlines, EVA Air, STARLUX Airlines, EWorld Tours, and Mango Tours, showcased Taiwan’s tourism offerings at the San Francisco Bay Area Travel & Adventure Show, held from March 15-16 at the Santa Clara Convention Center.

This year’s Taiwan pavilion highlighted the “Taiwan: Waves of Wonder” theme, part of Taiwan Tourism’s 3.0 branding. The design was inspired by Taiwan’s iconic landmarks such as Cijin’s Rainbow Arch in Kaohsiung and the comprehensive Island-wide Cycling Route No.1 map. The pavilion aimed to display the island’s diverse and captivating landscapes, ranging from its towering mountains to scenic coastlines, inviting travelers to experience a continuous flow of adventure. Visitors enjoyed hourly interactive activities, including the Taiwan Memory Box Game, DIY Year of the Snake Lantern, Sky Lantern Blessing DIY, and Taiwan Map Board Game.

TAIWAN’S CULTURAL AND ARTISTIC HERITAGE

Scott Ming-Chi Lai, Director General of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in San Francisco, remarked, “The most beautiful scenery in Taiwan is its people!” He emphasized that Taiwan is not only known for its world-leading technology sector but also its rich cultural tapestry. Taiwan is renowned for its delectable cuisine, the preservation of Chinese culture and traditions, indigenous communities, Hakka and Minnan influences, Mandarin pop music, tea culture, and its cutting-edge advancements in semiconductors and technology.

In recent years, Taiwan has placed a strong focus on cultural tourism, with the completion of world-class performance venues such as the National Theater & Concert Hall in Taipei, the National Opera House in Taichung, the National Kaohsiung Center for the Arts, the Taipei Performing Arts Center, and the Kaohsiung Music Center. These venues provide exceptional spaces for classical music concerts and foster international artistic exchanges.

UNIQUE MUSICAL PERFORMANCE AT THE GLOBAL BEATS STAGE

This year, Taiwan had the privilege of inviting renowned Taiwanese cellist Jung-Hsuan Ke (also known as CelloKoko), who currently performs with the San Francisco Opera, to deliver a special musical performance on the Global Beats Stage. She captivated the audience with renditions of the traditional Taiwanese folk songs “Longing for the Spring Breeze” and “Oyster Woman,” along with the classical cello masterpiece “The Swan.” Through her music, she transported the audience into a world of renewal, reflecting Taiwan’s vibrant rural spirit and breathtaking landscapes.

BOOSTING NORTH AMERICAN MARKET WITH AIRLINE PARTNERSHIPS & DIRECT FLIGHTS

Sylvia Szu-Hsien Lee, Director of the San Francisco Office, revealed that over 780,000 travelers from the Americas visited Taiwan in 2024, including:

  • 650,000 travelers from the U.S. (83% of the total from the Americas)
  • 110,000 travelers from Canada (14% of the total from the Americas)
  • Together, U.S. and Canadian travelers represented 97% of the visitors from the Americas

To enhance Taiwan’s presence in North America, the Taiwan Tourism Administration (TTA) has established strategic partnerships with airlines, facilitating 134 weekly direct flights connecting Taiwan to major West Coast cities, such as San Francisco, Seattle, Vancouver, Los Angeles, and Ontario. This initiative is designed to attract visitors from California and other regions in the U.S.

ENGAGING PROMOTIONS & EXCLUSIVE GIVEAWAYS

The TTA continues to offer exciting travel incentives to Taiwan, including: the “Taiwan the Lucky Land” lottery giveaways, Buy 1 Get 1 Free Taiwan High-Speed Rail tickets, and the Taiwan Pass for exclusive travel deals.

During the Travel & Adventure Show, visitors had the opportunity to take advantage of special, limited-time offers for Taiwan travel, speak with Taiwan tourism experts, and enter daily lucky draws for a chance to win round-trip economy class tickets to Taipei and exclusive Taiwan OhBear plush pillows.
