The Puerto Aventuras International Film Festival (PAIFF) is excited to launch its thrilling second edition, set to feature over 70 films and creative projects from 29 countries. Scheduled for April 2–6, 2025, the festival is poised to be a vibrant celebration of global film, art, and culture in one of Mexico’s picturesque coastal gems.
This year’s highlight includes the festival debut of Greenpeace Mexico’s compelling documentary, “Voices of the Mayan Jungle: A Battle for Life” (Voces de la Selva Maya: Una Batalla por la Vida). The documentary delves into the relentless destruction of Mexico’s “green lung”—the Mayan jungle—showcasing the severe impacts of deforestation, industrial agriculture, large-scale pig farms, property development, and the contentious Mayan Train initiative. It brings to the forefront the voices of indigenous communities and environmental champions striving to protect their lands and legacy. Carlos Samayoa, the campaign coordinator for Greenpeace Mexico, emphasizes, “We aim for the jungle’s plea to resonate across Mexico and far beyond.”
Greenpeace Mexico representatives and local ecological advocates will attend the screening to participate in a Q&A session, shedding light on this critical environmental and social issue.
PAIFF is set to enrich the festival atmosphere with unique screening venues over five days, featuring inaugural and concluding events, along with sessions held both in the morning and evening:
