OYO terminates association with two hotels for immoral activities, hoteldealers.in

Global hospitality technology platform OYO has permanently removed two properties, Hotel Stay Inn and Hotel Dream Empire, in Ghaziabad following reports of unlawful conduct. The local authorities have detained six individuals in connection with the case. A formal complaint has been registered and an inquiry is underway, according to a release issued by the company.Upon learning of these reports, the company promptly conducted an internal review. During the assessment, it was determined that agreements with both properties had already expired prior to the enforcement action. Nonetheless, OYO has taken the additional step of removing these properties to ensure they are permanently excluded from its network, eliminating any chances of future association. This decision reflects OYO’s strict zero-tolerance policy towards any form of unethical conduct in its partner hotels, reinforcing the company’s commitment to maintaining safe, reputable, and secure hospitality standards. The company expressed its appreciation to those who brought the concerns to light, with the management encouraging anyone with information regarding similar incidents to come forward, assuring them that their concerns would be addressed promptly and professionally.Commenting on the development, Nitin Thakur, global head of strategic alliances and communication, OYO, said: “We have found out that such incidents are mostly reported in properties using OYO branding without authorisation. We are enhancing our monitoring systems and implementing a robust mechanism designed to swiftly identify and initiate action against such properties. We remain committed to working closely with law enforcement agencies and local communities to create a safe environment for our guests.”OYO has launched a national program to promote responsible hospitality in partnership with enforcement agencies. As part of the initiative, it has conducted joint seminars with authorities in several cities such as Noida, Lucknow, Chandigarh, Kolkata, Meerut and Bangalore, which brought together key stakeholders from the industry, enforcement agencies, and property partners. The discussions focused on various aspects of safety and security, including best practices for ensuring guest safety, handling emergency situations, and collaborating with local authorities, the release added. The company has a comprehensive safety system to ensure that properties listed on its platform must comply with the safety related laws and guidelines issued by the local enforcement agencies. It also provides regular safety related training to its partners and their employees to watch out for concerning indicators such as guest behaviour and unusual check-in patterns and take preventive actions.
