California welcomes its first-ever Gaylord Hotels property as Marriott International and Gaylord Hotels unveil the spectacular Gaylord Pacific Resort & Convention Center — a landmark $1.3 billion coastal retreat that blends immersive leisure experiences with world-class meeting infrastructure.
“The debut of Gaylord Pacific marks a transformative milestone for the Gaylord Hotels brand,” said Johann Krieger, VP and Managing Director of Gaylord Hotels. “Bringing our signature all-under-one-roof experience and expertise bringing people together for extraordinary experiences to the West Coast for the first time is a proud moment for our team and a meaningful expansion of our portfolio. This opening celebrates a decade-long collaboration with the City of Chula Vista and the Port of San Diego, and we’re excited to become part of this vibrant community.”
Positioned on the shimmering shores of San Diego Bay in Chula Vista, the highly anticipated Gaylord Pacific Resort is now officially open. The state-of-the-art property stands as the sixth addition to the Gaylord Hotels portfolio and the very first to grace the West Coast. This bold expansion redefines the region’s hospitality and event landscape, merging coastal charm, expansive luxury, and unmatched business amenities into a single, unforgettable destination.
Luxury Reimagined on the West Coast
A joint vision between Marriott and RIDA Development Corporation, the Gaylord Pacific Resort boasts a stunning 1,600 guest rooms, including 89 opulent suites designed to deliver the perfect balance of elegance and comfort. The accommodations draw inspiration from the sea and sky, offering breathtaking views of either the San Diego Bay or the nearby mountain ranges. Standard rooms range from 389 to 623 square feet, featuring dedicated workspaces and modern coastal décor.
Guests seeking the pinnacle of luxury will find it in the resort’s premium suites. The exclusive collection includes six Luxury Suites, ten Presidential Suites, and two awe-inspiring Penthouse Presidential Suites. The Penthouse Suites offer a sprawling 3,254 square feet of indoor-outdoor living, complete with private furnished balconies showcasing panoramic views of Coronado Island and the Pacific Ocean. Inside, the suites come equipped with a full living area, kitchenette, bar, eight-person dining table, and a master suite complete with a spa-style soaking tub and private dressing room.
Setting New Standards for Events and Conferences
With over 477,000 square feet of versatile event space, Gaylord Pacific takes large-scale conferences, galas, and social gatherings to extraordinary heights. The resort includes 67 breakout rooms, four grand ballrooms, and 135,000 square feet of outdoor event lawns and terraces — all purpose-built for memorable experiences.
Most notably, Gaylord Pacific is home to California’s largest hotel-based convention center and ballroom, with its 140,049-square-foot California Ballroom & Exhibit Hall leading the charge. Expansive balconies off the Chula Vista and Bayside Ballrooms add fresh-air elegance to indoor functions, while expert event planners — easily recognized by their iconic teal jackets — ensure seamless coordination from start to finish.
