At the 2025 Philly Bike Expo in Philadelphia, PA, the Jamaica Tourist Board (JTB) highlighted the island’s potential as a top-tier global cycling destination. The annual event, known for bringing together cycling enthusiasts for exhibitions, seminars, and community interactions, served as the perfect platform for the JTB to promote Jamaica’s cycling tourism. Representatives from the JTB were present, hosting several events throughout Friday, March 7, and Saturday, March 8, including a seminar, a group bike ride, and a lively social gathering.

On Friday evening, the JTB invited attendees of the Philly Hike Expo to experience Jamaica’s vibrant food and music culture at VeloJawn, a local bike shop and event space. The following morning, the JTB organized a group ride in collaboration with Pinebury, a well-known cycling apparel brand. Led by Carlton Simmonds, Jamaica’s National Cycling Coach, the ride took participants on a scenic route from the iconic Philadelphia Art Museum to the Pennsylvania Convention Center, where they were treated to Blue Mountain Coffee and freshly made Jamaican patties.

Later in the day, the JTB and Coach Simmonds shared valuable insights on the island’s diverse cycling opportunities during a session named “Jamaica: Cycling Through Reggae Paradise.”

“Jamaica’s stunning and varied natural landscapes make it an excellent destination for cyclists looking for an unforgettable adventure,” said Hon. Edmund Bartlett, Jamaica’s Minister of Tourism. “The global cycling market continues to grow year after year, and we are well equipped to accommodate demand – whether it’s mountain biking in the breathtaking Blue Mountains, competing in an annual race like Jakes Off-Road Triathlon or finding community in local groups like the Simmonds Cycling Club, we offer a riding experience for all types of cyclists.”

Every year, Jamaica attracts hundreds of cyclists eager to explore its picturesque biking routes, such as the Kingston-Holywell, Kingston-Port Royal, and Ocho Rios-Montego Bay paths. These trails immerse riders in the island’s vibrant nature and stunning coastal views. For those seeking a guided adventure, Discover Jamaica by Bike, the leading bike tour provider, is offering a 6-Day Ultimate Experience from May 1-7, 2025. This journey will feature a three-day, expert-guided cycling tour through the island’s rainforests, beaches, and charming villages, allowing participants to experience Jamaica in a truly unique way.

“Thanks to our premiere local partners, cyclists visiting Jamaica will enjoy an array of incredible cycling-friendly adventures, experiences and accommodations,” said Donovan White, Director of Tourism, Jamaica. “Our island offers the unique opportunity to combine bike adventures with immersive cultural, culinary, wellness experiences. Visitors can embark on a reggae tour of Kingston, refuel at iconic restaurants like Rick’s Café and enjoy restorative treatments at our many resort spas.”
