IndiGo’s strategic growth plan is focused on significantly expanding its international network and enhancing service offerings, positioning the airline to become a global powerhouse by 2030. With an aggressive expansion of long-haul routes, a larger fleet, and improved customer experiences, IndiGo aims to solidify its presence in key global markets. By forging strategic partnerships and strengthening its operational efficiency, the airline is not only increasing capacity but also ensuring its services align with the demands of international travelers, driving its ambition to lead the global aviation sector.

IndiGo, India’s leading airline, is making bold moves this year to accelerate its journey toward becoming a prominent global airline by 2030. Leveraging its strengths in expanding capacity, maintaining operational efficiency, and focusing on cost leadership, the airline is steadily growing its network both within India and internationally. IndiGo is forging strategic partnerships, enhancing its service offerings, and improving customer experiences as part of its broader vision to establish a global presence. This aligns with the airline’s dedication to advancing India’s goal of becoming a global aviation hub. As the host airline for the 2025 IATA Annual General Meeting, IndiGo is excited to welcome the global aviation community to Delhi, the capital of India.

Pieter Elbers, Chief Executive Officer, IndiGo, said, “India is amongst the fastest growing aviation markets in the world; and as the largest Indian airline, IndiGo is committed to consistently increase its contribution to this growth. The financial year 2025 has been a pivotal year in our journey as we took significant steps in our evolution into a truly global airline. This includes introduction of IndiGoStretch, our tailor-made business offering, and BlueChip, our loyalty program, besides sizeable network expansion in the domestic as well as international market. “

“We are focused on our holistic growth to be able to offer affordable, convenient, on-time travel experience to our customers on a growing domestic and international route network. We also remain determined to maintain our cost leadership while continuously enhancing our operational efficiency and profitability, thereby, ensuring strong returns on our shareholders’ trust, support and investment”, he added.

Fleet Expansion

IndiGo is on track to expand its fleet significantly, with a new aircraft being added weekly throughout FY26. The airline is poised to surpass 600 aircraft by 2030. As part of its growth strategy, IndiGo has secured a deal with Norse Atlantic Airways to lease six Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners, with deliveries scheduled by early 2026. These additions will enhance IndiGo’s long-haul capabilities ahead of the anticipated arrival of the A350 aircraft in 2027. FY26 will also witness the integration of the long-range A321XLR into the fleet, opening up new international routes to destinations previously not connected directly to India.

Network Expansion

Continuing its expansion into international markets, IndiGo is set to add 10 new international destinations, taking its total international network to over 50 destinations. Long-haul operations will commence with direct flights connecting Mumbai to Manchester and Amsterdam starting in July 2025. As the airline’s fleet of leased Boeing 787s grows, further long-haul destinations such as London and Copenhagen will be added to the network.

With the added range capabilities of the A321XLR, IndiGo plans to expand its European network with new direct connections, including Athens. The airline is also reinforcing its regional international network with four new Central Asian destinations, including the reactivation of direct flights from Mumbai to Almaty and Tashkent. Tbilisi will also benefit from additional capacity with non-stop services from Mumbai.

IndiGo will debut direct flights to Siem Reap, marking the airline’s entry into the India-Cambodia market, and further extending its Southeast Asian network following the successful launches of services to Langkawi, Penang, and Krabi. The airline will also enhance its capacity to Denpasar Bali, Ho Chi Minh City, and Hanoi.

This network expansion, coupled with organic growth through increased frequencies on existing routes, signifies IndiGo’s commitment to global expansion.

Domestic Market Growth

On the domestic front, IndiGo plans to increase its network by adding four new destinations, raising its total number of domestic stations from 91 to 95. Notably, IndiGo will be the first airline to operate at the newly developed Navi Mumbai International Airport and Noida International Airport in Jewar, serving the large catchment areas of Uttar Pradesh and Delhi. Additional new domestic routes will include services to and from Adampur Airport in Jalandhar and Hindon Airport in Ghaziabad, set to launch in 2025.

Strengthening Operations

IndiGo is further enhancing its operational capabilities with the construction of a new state-of-the-art Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) facility at Bengaluru International Airport (BIAL). This facility will be built on a 31-acre site and will be equipped to handle both narrow-body and wide-body aircraft. The new MRO will strengthen IndiGo’s maintenance capabilities, increase aircraft availability, and reduce turnaround times, contributing to greater cost efficiency. With a fleet of over 400 aircraft and more than 900 on order, this facility will significantly enhance IndiGo’s operational efficiency and in-house capabilities, leveraging India’s skilled workforce.

Partnerships

IndiGo continues to build strategic partnerships, which are key to its international growth. One notable development is the expansion of its partnership with Japan Airlines, where IndiGo will now place its flight codes on Japan Airlines’ services between Southeast Asia and Tokyo, providing seamless connectivity between India and Japan. The airline expects more partnership announcements in the near future to further strengthen its international network.

Enhancing Customer Experience

In response to evolving customer expectations, IndiGo launched its premium business product, IndiGoStretch, in November 2024. Initially available on major domestic routes like Delhi-Mumbai and Delhi-Bengaluru, the IndiGoStretch product will be expanded to include 40-45 aircraft by the end of 2025. Additionally, IndiGo will introduce this product on select regional international routes, including those to Bangkok, Singapore, Phuket, and Dubai starting in June 2025.

In a significant upgrade for long-haul passengers, IndiGo will introduce complementary hot meals and beverages from iconic Indian brands on its new routes to Manchester and Amsterdam, further enhancing the in-flight experience for its customers.

IndiGo’s strategic growth plan is set to expand its international network and enhance service offerings, aiming to become a global powerhouse by 2030. With a focus on long-haul routes, fleet expansion, and improved customer experiences, the airline is positioning itself to lead in global aviation markets.

Financial Performance

IndiGo has experienced a strong financial performance, with FY25 revenue growing by 18%, reaching INR 841 billion (approximately USD 10 billion). This marks a major milestone, placing the airline in the exclusive group of global carriers with such a turnover. The airline also reported a net profit of INR 72,584 million for the fiscal year ending in March 2025, with a 9% profit margin. The fourth-quarter profit of INR 30,675 million represents IndiGo’s highest-ever quarterly profit.
