In a significant step towards promoting rural women entrepreneurship in the food service sector, a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was jointly signed between the Institute of Hotel Management Catering Technology and Applied Nutrition (IHM) – Ranchi and Palash-Jharkhand State Livelihood Promotion Society (JSLPS).
Under this agreement a total of 100 ‘Didi cafés’ will be opened all across the state of Jharkhand.
The MOU marks the commencement of the ‘Palash Aajivika Didi Café Food Retail Chain & Catering Services’ under Sectoral Cluster development project, which has been approved by the ministry of rural development, Government of India, and is being executed by Palash-JSLPS under the aegis of the rural development department, Government of Jharkhand.
Dr. Bhupesh Kumar, principal, IHM Ranchi and Awadh Narayan Prasad, joint secretary – RDD-cum-chief operating officer (governance) of Palash-JSLPS Government of Jharkhand, jointly signed the MoU.
As per the agreement, IHM-Ranchi has been entrusted as the Technical Service Agency (TSA), leveraging its expertise and resources to drive the advancement of rural women entrepreneurs associated with Sakhi Mandal in food service.
Kumar expressed his gratitude towards the JSLPS for showing their confidence towards the expertise and innovative training methodologies of IHM Ranchi. He further emphasised that this strategic collaboration is poised to bring about a transformative change in the socio-economic landscape of rural Jharkhand by empowering women through skill development, entrepreneurial opportunities, and access to markets.
