G Adventures has unveiled its plans to make a highly anticipated return to the Arctic in June 2026, marking a significant milestone as it prepares to operate in the region for the first time since 2019. The expedition company is set to relaunch its Arctic program aboard the Ocean Adventurer, which will undergo a rebranding and be renamed Expedition for this new era of polar exploration. This exciting announcement follows G Adventures’ recent introduction of a state-of-the-art expedition vessel for Antarctica, underscoring the company’s ongoing commitment to offering travelers accessible, adventurous, and educational experiences in some of the world’s most remote and breathtaking destinations. With a renewed focus on sustainability and immersive exploration, G Adventures is eager to take travelers back to the Arctic’s awe-inspiring landscapes, showcasing the region’s dramatic coastlines, rich wildlife, and unique natural wonders.
The 2026 Arctic season will introduce four new itineraries, offering a wide variety of options for travelers eager to explore the frozen landscapes of the North. These journeys promise to provide not only adventure and exploration but also an in-depth educational experience about the Arctic’s delicate environment, wildlife, and natural wonders.
G Adventures is expanding its offerings with a new set of itineraries that will allow passengers to experience the Arctic’s stunning coastlines and wildlife like never before. Travelers can look forward to immersive expeditions that feature wildlife sightings, educational sessions with experts, and the chance to witness the region’s unique ecosystems in their most pristine form.
Among the planned itineraries is the eight-day “Realm of the Polar Bear,” which focuses on wildlife, and the 15-day “Arctic Highlights Southbound,” which takes guests on an extensive journey through the heart of the Arctic. These trips will provide opportunities for travelers to encounter polar bears, whales, walruses, seals, and a wide range of seabird species, including puffins.
In addition to the wildlife experiences, these voyages will also feature activities like polar plunges and excursions across the Arctic tundra, all while witnessing the awe-inspiring midnight sun. Educational sessions on board will help deepen travelers’ understanding of the Arctic’s natural history and its role in the global ecosystem.
The Arctic program will include 10 departures in 2026, with more itineraries planned for the coming weeks that will explore Scotland, Iceland, Greenland, the Faroe Islands, and Labrador. These trips will offer even more opportunities for adventure, with a mix of exploration and cultural immersion, showcasing some of the most awe-inspiring, less-traveled destinations in the world.
This new product launch is expected to provide significant opportunities for travel agents, as travelers seek guidance from experts to plan their Arctic expeditions. The comprehensive new offerings will give agents a competitive edge, enabling them to cater to growing demand for unique, off-the-beaten-path travel experiences.
Additionally, G Adventures has announced the arrival of a new ship, the Expedition, which will begin service in October 2025. Chartered from SunStone Ships, the vessel has undergone extensive renovations to become more fuel-efficient, supporting G Adventures’ sustainability goals. The 128-passenger ship will retain the spirit of adventure and community that G Adventures is known for, offering travelers a comfortable yet immersive polar journey.
With its return to the Arctic, G Adventures aims to set a new standard in small-ship expeditions, providing travelers with access to the breathtaking beauty of the polar regions in an environmentally conscious way. Through new itineraries, a newly renovated vessel, and an ongoing commitment to sustainability, G Adventures is poised to offer a truly transformative Arctic experience for years to come.
