A United Airlines Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner operating on the route from Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) to Cape Town International Airport (CPT) had to return about an hour into the flight due to smoke in the cabin. United flight UA1122, which had 253 passengers, encountered an issue which compelled the crew to return to Newark.
