Indian carriers Air India and IndiGo have halted operations at Dubai International Airport as the city witnesses its wettest day in history.

The airlines acknowledged the frustration caused by delays and expressed apologies for any inconvenience experienced by travelers. They assured passengers that efforts are underway to ensure a swift departure. For immediate assistance, passengers have been asked to contact ground staff and track flight status before leaving for the airport.

“#6ETravelAdvisory: Due to adverse weather conditions in #Dubai #Sharjah #RasAlKhaimah #AbuDhabi & #Muscat, our flight operations are impacted. Please keep a track of your flight status at https://bit.ly/2EjJGGT before leaving for the airport,” IndiGo said in a statement on social media platform X.

An Air India spokesperson said that the airline is offering a one-time date change waiver to passengers with valid tickets on 16 and 17 April which will enable them to reschedule their flights.

“Due to the impact of adverse weather in Dubai on 16 April, we have had to cancel our flights to and from Dubai on 16 and 17 April. We are doing our best to get affected passengers on their way as soon as possible by re-accommodating them on flights in the next few days. We are also offering a one-time date change waiver to passengers with valid tickets on 16 and 17 April, allowing them to reschedule their flights to future dates within the validity of the tickets,” the spokesperson said.

“We’re sorry for the inconvenience caused. As checked, flight AI934 is cancelled due to bad weather at Dubai airport. Our team is working diligently to minimize the inconvenience caused.,” Air India said.

Dubai’s national carrier Emirates Airlines too has informed passengers about the disruption of flight operations in several cities due to adverse weather conditions. The affected areas include Dubai, Sharjah, Ras Al Khaimah, Abu Dhabi, and Muscat. Passengers have been advised to stay updated on their flight status before heading to the airport.

Emirates has also halted all check-ins for the day at Dubai International Airport. This decision comes as heavy rainfall and storms disrupt travel in one of the world’s busiest aviation hubs. Transit passengers, however, are allowed to proceed to their connecting flights.

United Arab Emirates-listed carrier AirArabia has said check-in for flights from and to Sharjah International Airport will be suspended until 02:00 am April 18 due to impact of severe weather conditions in UAE.

Dubai Airport, one of the busiest airports in the world, is currently experiencing significant disruption as a result of the adverse weather conditions. Emirates Airlines reassures passengers of their dedication to resolving the situation and ensuring smooth travel experiences amidst the challenges posed by the inclement weather.
