FHRAI Hosts Human Resources Summit On Hospitality Education And Career Opportunities In India

The Federation of Hotel & Restaurant Associations of India (FHRAI), the third largest hospitality association in the world, in collaboration with the National Council for Hotel Management and Catering Technology (NCHMCT) and the Hotel & Restaurant Association of Northern India (HRANI), will be hosting the HR Summit on Education and Career in Hospitality on 14th November 2024 at Hotel Le Meridien, New Delhi, starting at 10:00 AM. The summit will be inaugurated by Ms. V. Vidyavathi, IAS, Secretary, Ministry of Tourism, Government of India with Mr. Gyan Bhushan, IES, CEO, NCHMCT & Senior EA(T), Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, along and will bring together top industry leaders, educators, and government representatives to discuss the future of hospitality education, career opportunities, and talent development in India.
The primary aim of the HR Summit is to address the challenges faced by the Indian hospitality industry, particularly the shortage of qualified human resources, low student enrolments in hospitality courses, and high attrition rates within the sector. The summit will serve as a platform for all key stakeholders – industry leaders, academics, and policymakers – to come together and discuss solutions that will shape the future of hospitality education and career progression for professionals. The focus will be on bridging the skills gap, enhancing the quality of hospitality education, and creating a more attractive and sustainable career pathway for future talent.
Mr. Pradeep Shetty, Vice President, FHRAI & Convenor of the Summit said, “The hospitality industry in India is at a critical point where growth potential is immense, but we are facing significant challenges due to a shortage of skilled professionals. This summit is an essential platform for us to collectively address these issues and chart a way forward. We aim to bring together industry, academia, and government to discuss strategies that will not only help us bridge the growing skills gap but also improve student enrolment in hospitality education and reduce attrition in the industry. By working together, we can ensure that the hospitality sector remains vibrant, competitive, and prepared to meet the demands of the future.”
The HR Summit will feature three key sessions. The first, titled “Career Opportunities in Hospitality: Trends, Challenges, and Strategies,” will delve into the current trends in hospitality careers, emerging roles within the sector, and strategic approaches to skill development and career progression. The second session, “Addressing Low Enrolment and High Attrition in the Hospitality Industry,” will explore the factors contributing to decreasing enrolments in hospitality courses, the relevance of curriculum, the perception of hospitality careers, and strategies for tackling high employee turnover. These discussions will aim to identify practical solutions and long-term strategies that can be implemented across the industry. The third session will focus on ‘Managing Human Resource in Hospitality Industry’.
