Dusit Princess Melaka has set a new benchmark for luxury hospitality in Malaysia, marking a significant milestone for Dusit International. This debut property in the historic city of Melaka offers a seamless blend of modern comfort and the rich cultural heritage of the area. With its contemporary design, world-class amenities, and personalized service, Dusit Princess Melaka is redefining the luxury hotel experience in Malaysia, making a lasting impression on both business and leisure travelers.

Dusit Princess Melaka, marking Dusit International’s inaugural property in Malaysia, celebrated its grand opening on 29 May 2025, setting a new standard for Thai-inspired luxury hospitality in the state. This event not only signified the hotel’s launch but also highlighted one of Melaka’s largest venues for meetings and events, positioning the city as an emerging hub for MICE tourism in the region.

The opening coincides with Melaka’s impressive tourism boom. In 2024, the city welcomed over 15 million visitors, marking a 74% increase compared to the previous year, solidifying its place as one of Southeast Asia’s top travel destinations. As part of the national Visit Malaysia 2026 initiative, Melaka’s Visit Melaka Year campaign will continue through 2026, with an ambitious target of attracting 35.6 million visitors.

Located in the heart of Melaka’s UNESCO World Heritage City, the 296-room Dusit Princess Melaka seamlessly combines modern luxury with the rich heritage of the area. Guests can enjoy breathtaking views of the city and the Straits of Melaka while experiencing the hotel’s five-star amenities and Dusit’s signature Thai-inspired hospitality. This new property offers a unique experience for both business and leisure travelers while honoring the cultural essence of Melaka.

The hotel features a range of lifestyle facilities, including the state’s deepest swimming pool, a 24-hour fitness center, and a variety of dining options, such as Zest Restaurant, Long Feng Chinese Restaurant, and the lively Famosa Lounge.

Its meeting and event space, spanning 774 sq m, is equipped with full LED screen capabilities and adaptable room layouts, making it ideal for large conferences, weddings, and private events. The hotel also offers guests curated local experiences that provide a deep dive into the sights, flavors, and culture of Melaka.

The grand opening ceremony of the hotel was presided over by Tuan Yang Terutama Tun Seri Setia Dr. Haji Mohd Ali Bin Mohd Rustam, the Governor of Melaka. Also present at the event was Mr. Mohamad Bukhari bin Che Man, Director of the Ministry of Tourism, Arts & Culture (MOTAC) for the State of Melaka.

“Dusit Princess Melaka opens at a crucial moment for the tourism sector,” said Mr Mohamad
Bukhari bin Che Man, Director of MOTAC, State of Melaka.
“As we gear up to host global
events such as UN Tourism 2025 and lead into Visit Malaysia 2026, the hotel represents a
meaningful addition to Melaka’s expanding hospitality landscape and supports the state’s
continued development as a modern global tourism hub. It also reflects the state’s growing
appeal to international travellers and trusted global brands and aligns with our vision for
responsible, inclusive, and high-value tourism growth. With its extensive lifestyle and business
facilities and Thai-inspired gracious hospitality, the hotel is well positioned to enrich visitor
experiences and support Melaka’s emergence as a regional leisure and MICE tourism centre.”

Mr Gilles Cretallaz, Chief Operating Officer, Dusit International, said:
“This grand opening
marks a significant milestone for Dusit, as we officially introduce our distinctive Thai-inspired
gracious hospitality to Malaysia. With its rich heritage, strategic location, and forward-looking
development plans, Melaka provides the ideal setting for our debut in the country. Dusit
Princess Melaka exemplifies our commitment to delivering warm, authentic, and meaningful
experiences, and we are delighted to welcome guests from around the world, including
delegates attending UN Tourism 2025, to experience the best of both Thai and Malaysian
hospitality.”

Dusit Princess Melaka has earned two prestigious accolades at the International Business Magazine Awards 2025 in recognition of its outstanding service and hospitality. The awards, Best Hotel for Business Travellers – Malaysia and Excellence in Regional Hospitality – Malaysia, highlight the hotel’s growing reputation among both business and leisure visitors. These recognitions affirm the hotel’s increasing prominence within Malaysia’s competitive hospitality sector, following its soft opening earlier this year.

Dusit Princess Melaka marks a pivotal moment for Dusit International, introducing a luxurious retreat in Malaysia’s historic city of Melaka. The hotel combines modern sophistication with local heritage, offering an exceptional stay for both business and leisure guests.

To mark its grand opening, Dusit Princess Melaka is offering a limited-time promotion, the Melaka Retreat. This exclusive package includes daily breakfast at Zest, a MYR 50 daily food and beverage credit valid at any of the hotel’s dining venues, complimentary room upgrades (subject to availability), and an additional 15% discount for Dusit Gold members.
