Dusit International, one of Thailand’s leading hospitality groups, has announced its expansion into Indonesia with the signing of Kaliwatu Residences – Dusit Collection in Labuan Bajo, Flores.
Under a hotel management agreement with PT Komodo Property Management, this project marks the first Dusit Collection property in Indonesia and aims to set new standards in luxury hospitality and sustainable tourism.
The development is located on the western tip of Flores Island, just 10 minutes from Komodo International Airport, providing direct access to Komodo National Park, home to the legendary Komodo dragons and one of Indonesia’s most biodiverse marine environments. Labuan Bajo, designated as one of Indonesia’s five super priority tourism destinations by the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy of Indonesia, is a key driver of the nation’s tourism sector, targeting 1.5 million visitors annually.
A New Benchmark in Sustainable Luxury Hospitality
Scheduled for full completion in Q2 2028, Kaliwatu Residences – Dusit Collection will feature:
63 luxury private villas with plunge pools.
194 contemporary apartments with panoramic sea views.
A clubhouse with a restaurant, bars, retail shops, gym, spa, and a rooftop swimming pool.
The development aligns with Indonesia’s sustainable tourism goals, ensuring responsible environmental practices and community engagement initiatives. Local authorities fully support the project, emphasizing its positive economic impact on the region.
Enhancing Indonesia’s Super Priority Destination Status
Labuan Bajo has gained international recognition for its rich marine biodiversity, pink beaches, underground caves, and cascading waterfalls. According to the Indonesia Ministry of Transportation, recent upgrades to Komodo International Airport and the introduction of direct flights from Kuala Lumpur, Singapore (March 2025), and Perth (upcoming) are boosting accessibility to the destination.
The government has intensified infrastructure improvements to solidify Labuan Bajo as a global travel hub, further elevating the need for high-end hospitality experiences.
Leadership Perspectives on the Partnership
Gilles Cretallaz, Chief Operating Officer of Dusit International, emphasized the importance of the expansion:
“The signing of Kaliwatu Residences – Dusit Collection marks a milestone in Dusit’s Southeast Asia strategy. Labuan Bajo offers immense potential, and we are excited to introduce our signature Thai-inspired gracious hospitality to this breathtaking destination.”
Alessandro Mugavero, CEO of PT Komodo Property Management, reinforced the project’s sustainable vision:
“Labuan Bajo is growing as a premier global destination, and our partnership with Dusit ensures a hospitality experience that balances world-class luxury with environmental responsibility.”
Dusit’s Growing Global Portfolio
With this addition, Dusit’s international portfolio now includes 296 properties across 18 countries, comprising 57 Dusit Hotels and Resorts and 239 luxury villas under Elite Havens. Kaliwatu Residences – Dusit Collection joins other notable projects in development, including Layan Verde in Phuket (2027) and Plaza De Zamboanga – Dusit Collection in the Philippines (2025).
