At this year’s Celebrity Ski event in Beaver Creek, Colorado, American Airlines, together with its partners, successfully gathered over $1.2 million in support of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. This annual gathering has consistently played a pivotal role in fundraising for the Foundation, cumulatively contributing over $47 million to aid their critical work against cystic fibrosis.

“For the past 40 years, we’ve joined forces with our dedicated team members, sponsors, and supporters on the slopes, united in our fight against cystic fibrosis,” said Caroline Clayton, Senior Vice President of Communications and Chief Marketing Officer at American. “At American Airlines, our purpose is to care for people on life’s journey, and that mission is aligned closely with the work of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. While we’ve made significant progress, there is still much more to be done, and we are steadfast in our commitment to this journey.”

The contributions will bolster the efforts of the CF Foundation, recognized globally as the forefront organization in seeking a cure for cystic fibrosis. The Foundation funds a wide array of research projects targeting this genetic disorder that primarily impacts the lungs and pancreas.

“We are very grateful to American Airlines, our longest-standing corporate supporter of 40 years, who has raised more than $47 million through American Airlines Celebrity Ski,” said Michael Boyle, MD, President and CEO of the CF Foundation. “Thanks to American’s generosity, many people with CF are living longer than at any time in history.”

This iteration of the event attracted over 450 participants, including volunteers and high-profile figures from sports and entertainment. Notable activities included skiing with Olympic athletes and enjoying performances by artists Dasha and Noah Rinker.

American’s long-standing partnership with the CF Foundation has been instrumental in funding significant breakthroughs, from the initial identification of the cystic fibrosis gene to the development and approval of transformative treatments. Moreover, the airline has contributed immensely to the Foundation’s fundraising efforts by donating hundreds of millions of AAdvantage® miles for charity auctions nationwide.
